SCC-M Central Station of Milan
Milano, LOMBARDIA (ITALY)
The redevelopment of existing buildings in the railway park RFI areas make trough the build of the central office building SCC-M, born as a strategic intervention to control the railway network of the Milan node.
The design involves the recovery of existing warehouses, a partial demolition of them and the reunification in a single building through the construction of a new body added in the demolished central part.
The volumetric articulation conceived in the final design proposes the construction of a single building that comes from the demolition of part of separate existing sheds and the construction of a new volume that brings them together in a central position. In reality, the formal outcome solution translates into a strong contrast between the new and the existing, but focuses unequivocally on the presence of the central hall.

Adapt spaces to improve the environments quality
As for the working environments, distribution has been maintained through a central corridor to toward functional units made of offices with an annexed archives. We exclusively intervened on factors that could improve the quality of the work environments, such as the altimetric position of the windows on the ground floor, making sure that the window sill is one meter from the ground giving the possibility who works in that room to look outside.
